James Casey is an experienced professional working in the research administration and legal fields. As director of OSP, he is responsible for the direction and management of all pre-award and non-financial post award grant and contract administration operations. James has over 20 years of university research management experience, encompassing sponsored research management and re-engineering, contracting, industry and international collaboration, and compliance. During his career he has been associated with a variety of universities, including Northwestern University and the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He has a strong interest in international research administration and has given research administration presentations in 14 countries. For ten years he has served as a NIH/NIAID peer reviewer, particularly for large center grants in the HIV/AIDS area. A member of NCURA since 1995, he received their Distinguished Service Award in 2009 for contributions to NCURA and the profession. He is a past member of the University-Industry Demonstration Partnership (UIDP) Executive Board, and is or has been involved in projects convened by the National Academies and AAAS. He is the immediate past president of the State Bar of Wisconsin Nonresident Lawyers Division and a member of the Executive Committee of the Wisconsin Bar Board of Governors. A Life Fellow of the Wisconsin Law Foundation, he is a member of the U.S. Supreme Court Bar, Wisconsin Bar, American Bar Association, AAAS, and NCURA.
